The most critical stage in the healing process starts immediately upon completion of your tattoo, so please take time to read through the instructions and ask any questions you may have before you leave. It is essential that you follow these instructions carefully, as the biggest factor in how quickly and healthy your tattoo heals, is you. Occasionally, a tattoo may lose some colour or experience some fading or scabbing during the healing process if the tattoo is not cared for properly. Any defects in colour or line work due to improper aftercare is not included in your original fee, and you will be charged to retouch the work. Our artists are extremely experienced and can easily identify an improperly healed tattoo from any trauma that might occur during the healing process.

1. Keep your bandage on for 2-3 days.

2. Although Saniderm is waterproof, you still should not soak your new tattoo in any kind of water. No baths, swimming, hot tubs, or saunas/steam rooms until your tattoo has fully healed. Showers are perfectly fine, as your bandage should be completely sealed from any water, soap, or bacteria.

3. Don’t worry if there is some fluid buildup under the bandage. It is made up of plasma & blood & is completely normal.

4. After 2-3 days, hop in the shower or run your tattoo under medium temperature water & start to pick at one of the corners of the Saniderm until it starts to lift-up. Very gently start to roll the corner of the Saniderm down towards the rest of the bandage so that it starts to pull the bandage off. You can pull lightly but don’t rip it off quickly like you would a band-aid.

5. Always make sure you wash your hands before touching your new tattoo in any way.

6. Once the Saniderm is removed, thoroughly wash your new tattoo with Wolfsbane Tattoo Soap. The first wash of your tattoo is the most important. Make sure you wash it very well to remove any of the fluid buildup & soap. Your tattoo should look exactly like it did when your artist was done the initial ink.

7. Dry your tattoo by patting it with a clean paper towel (NOT toilet paper) or a freshly cleaned towel. Do not rub your skin dry to avoid irritation.

8. Leave your tattoo to air dry for about 20 minutes before applying a thin layer of Wolfsbane Tattoo Cream.

9. Apply Wolfsbane Tattoo Cream as many times as required to keep your new tattoo moisturized & to avoid dry, cracked tattoos or at any point if your tattoo becomes dirty during the healing process. Do not overapply. Your Tattoo should never be dry or itchy.

10. Do not pick, scratch, or rub your tattoo until it’s healed. It may cause scarring or infection.

11. Do not re-wrap your new tattoo unless otherwise directed by your tattoo artist.

12. Try to avoid the sun while your tattoo is healing or cover it up with loose-fitted clothing when you can’t avoid it.

13. If your tattoo becomes infected or you believe it might be infected, please contact us first if you have any unusual swelling, irritation, or other signs of infection or any questions or concerns about the healing of your ink, please feel free to contact us anytime in Canmore: 403-675-2404 inkcn@theparlour.group or Red Deer: 587-815-5518 inkrd@theparlour.group and/or seek medical attention.

How does Saniderm work?
Hypoallergenic and latex-free, Saniderm is a medical-grade, breathable, waterproof tattoo bandage. Saniderm is engineered to be permeable to gasses, like oxygen. These bandages alleviate many of the pitfalls that come with other tattoo healing methods. Primarily, Saniderm drastically reduces the risk of contaminants entering the wound site of a fresh tattoo. Wearing Saniderm protects the area from unwanted shear/friction and allows the body to keep itself moisturized. The result is a tattoo healing experience that is safer, smoother, and more efficient.
